WA young people attend 'Prom' at the Y HQ

Youth

Last weekend, we teamed up with the Perth Festival to host an epic free event for all young people to freely express themselves! Dubbed ‘Prom Night’, the event called for young people to hit the op-shops and dress to impress in an outfit inspired by the Festival’s theme, Ngaank (meaning the sun).

Upon arrival, attendees were greeted by Project BEXX on the decks, a complimentary bubble tea and the opportunity to get their makeup done. The event also featured live performances, music, a photo booth to capture priceless moments shared among friends and for those feeling crafty the opportunity to make a native flower corsage.

Young people who needed a moment to escape the noise and relax without missing out on all the fun could visit a dedicated Quiet Zone run by the Youth Disability Advocacy Network.

This initiative is just one example of the positive experiences we offer young people to empower and give them a voice. It is proof that when we come together, we can create an experience that not only celebrates youth, but also fosters a sense of community and belonging.
